Middleton's tree tall

Lillian and Wally Middleton of Stanwood stand in March in front of the white fir sapling planted by Stanwood High School students in 1990 that now towers 60 feet above them.

The club was taking part in Earth Rally ’90—an event to commemorate 20th anniversary of Earth Day 1970, the generally recognized start of the environmental movement.

The Earth Club, and other services organizations around the state, had received seedlings from the Keep Washington Green Association.
