The Washington State University Skagit County Extension has long had programs related to food waste prevention and fighting climate change.

Now the extension is showing it is more than just talking about the issues with the addition of a worm chalet — a compost bin filled with worms that eat organic matter, and where the worm wasted can be used as compost.
