YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — One of Yellowstone National Park’s oldest known wolves — 907F — died at age 11 on Christmas day, three days after a fight with a rival pack.

The average lifespan of a Yellowstone wolf is 4-5 years and the oldest known wolf since the species was restored to the park in 1995, 478F of the Cougar Creek pack, lived to be 12 1/2.
