A new chapter of Samish history unfolded on May 17 with a ribbon cutting commemorating the completion of the Samish Indian Nation’s Xwch’ángteng Housing Project.

The project, also known as the 34th Housing Project, carried historical significance, not only as the tribe’s first affordable housing development, but also the first Samish village on the tribe’s historic lands in over 125 years.
